Harvard University’s Memorial Hall reopened shortly after noon on Monday, a few hours after a bomb threat prompted officials to evacuate the building and order people in the area to shelter in place, the university said.

“Memorial Hall and Memorial Church are now open,” the university posted at 12:36 p.m. on its webpage for emergency announcements. ”This will be the final message for this incident.“

The first message about the bomb threat was posted at 8:44 a.m. and included an instruction for anyone near the building to stay inside, officials said.

“Shelter in place if near the location or avoid the area until further notice. Follow instructions from law enforcement on scene,” the notice said. “Wait for further instructions from university officials.”

The shelter-in-place order was lifted at 9:21 a.m., and the building was closed shortly after 10 a.m. while law enforcement officials searched the building, police said.

The search was completed without incident, and the building reopened just after 12:30 p.m. No injuries or arrests were reported.
