Why is The Boston Globe increasing their price?

Given the major changes in the newspaper business, we find it necessary to increase our Home Delivery and newstand rates to help ensure that we can continue to publish meaningful and original reporting every day.

I pre-paid my subscription (12, 26 or 52 weeks at a time). How is my account affected?

Subscribers who have pre-paid their account will not see a change in their price until the pre-pay period runs out (after 12/26/52 weeks). At such a time, their subscription rate will increase to the new rate, according to their location.

As is customary, The Boston Globe will notify you prior to your pre-pay period ending and provide you with details on the new rate, as well as options for savings by pre-paying your subscription again.

I pay my subscription by recurring credit card. How is my account affected?

Subscribers who pay for their subscription by recurring credit card charge will not see a change in their price until their next payment is due. At such a time, their subscription rate will increase to the new rate, according to their location.

Recurring credit card payers will continue to be automatically eligible for up to 5% savings off the new subscription rate. If you choose to discontinue recurring charges, your subscription will revert to the full price rate (according to your location).

I am on a special introductory rate. How is my account affected?

Subscribers on an introductory rate will not see a change in their price until the introductory period runs out. At such a time, their subscription rate will increase to the new rate, according to their location.

I receive a senior discount. How is my account affected?

7-Day Subscribers on the senior rate will receive $2.50 off the full price home delivery rate per week if you live in the Greater Boston Area. If you live outside the Greater Boston Area, the discounted rate is $3.50 off the current full price home delivery rate per week. The new rate per week for seniors in the Greater Boston area for a 7-Day Subscription is $9.75, outside Greater Boston it is now $12.00.
