What is Boston Globe Extras?
Boston Globe Extras is an exciting benefits program designed to say thank you to our subscribers. In addition to the news and information you count on from The Boston Globe, every subscription comes with a host of valuable benefits - all for free. Benefits include special subscriber-only discounts from leading retailers, invitations to special events, free access to Globe archives, and much more.

Who is eligible to take advantage of Boston Globe Extras?
Boston Globe Extras is available to all home delivery subscribers in good standing. Some Sunday-only subscribers may not be eligible until the end of their introductory discount period.

Is there a catch to the program being free?
No catch. Boston Globe Extras is a free benefits program available to subscribers. It's our way of thanking you for being a loyal reader. While membership in the program is free, the benefits can come in many forms. Some are free, while others may be discounts on purchases; buy-one, get-one-free offers; or early access or great seats to events. In some cases, benefits may be offered on a limited basis.

Why do I have to activate my membership?
By activating your membership, you will enable The Globe to know and understand who you are. As a result, we will be better able to provide an enhanced and relevant user experience for all of the site visitors. Specifically, this means The Globe and Boston Globe Extras will be able to provide customized information for you – content from our newsroom and other sources (such as events, advertisements, wire stories, and links to other information as appropriate). By knowing just a little bit about you, we can build our site so it's more informative and tailored to your interests.

Where can I find my account number?
You can locate your account number one of two ways:
1. reference the top, right of your invoice or,
2. call 1-888-MY-GLOBE and a customer service representative will assist you.

What if I still can’t find my account number?
You may bypass having to provide an account number if instead you register using the last name on your account, plus the last 4 digits of the credit card used when subscribing to The Boston Globe (if applicable).

Not a Boston Globe subscriber?

How will I know when there’s a new event or offer available to me?
Boston Globe Extras regularly advertises current offers and events in the daily and Sunday paper. In addition, you may also see web ads on Boston.com, signs at events, monthly emails and other communications. Of course, the easiest and fastest way to know what’s available to you is to check www.bgextras.com on a regular basis.

How do I subscribe or unsubscribe to a newsletter?
You can sign up for any of the Boston Globe Extras newsletters by selecting the appropriate fields during the registration process. Or sign up by visiting the member center. You can also unsubscribe from any newsletter by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the newsletter.

Am I limited to the number of offers or events I can get?
No. You're not limited to the number of offers or events in which you can participate. But the offers and events sometimes limited capacity. Such events and offers will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis. BGE reserves the right to limit attendance to certain events.

Are the offers or events free?
There is no additional charge to participate in Boston Globe Extras. However, some offers will require a purchase such as discounts, buy-one-get-one-free offers and VIP access or seating.

How do I sign up for events?
Once you've signed up for Boston Globe Extras, log on to www.bgextras.com, click on Events, find the event you're looking for, and simply follow the instructions posted with the event. If you’ve signed up for an event, you can expect to receive an email confirmation indicating that your request has been received. In addition, Boston Globe Extras sends a final email confirmation 3-5 days prior to an event that contains specific information regarding that event, including mass transit options, driving directions, parking and other details.

How often do offers and events change?
Most offers will be updated monthly, but some will be added more frequently so it's important to check back regularly.

Why do I need to provide my email address and other information?
By providing your contact information, you can receive information around new benefits and offers periodically throughout the year. From the best stories to free invitations to special events to exclusives sales and discounts, we will do our best to keep you informed of all the great Extras available.

Will the Globe share my information?
The Globe and Boston Globe Extras are dedicated to providing you with a highly interactive and personalized experience while also protecting your privacy. The personal information that you provide is never shared with another company. Only aggregate information – about our online audience group – is shared.
