Solar panels: Down in the dumps

Who knew landfills had more aesthetic value than solar panels? Behind the good news of Easthampton erecting 10,000 solar panels on one landfill to provide enough electricity for 600 homes, NIMBY-ism was raised to a new level by residents who successfully blocked a solar array at another landfill. They complained the panels reduce property values by ruining the now-pastoral feeling provided by capped mounds.
