The Boston Globe was named one of the top 10 sports sections in the country. The Globe scored in the daily, Sunday, and Special Sections competition. In the writing categories, the Globe finished third in enterprise for its stories on Ted Williams's life; fourth in news for the revelation of the freezing of Williams's remains (Beth Daley and Raja Mishra); and was awarded two honorable mentions for Jackie MacMullan in investigative stories (the hazing of members of the Pentucket High School football team) and features (NBA referee Bob Delaney).
