Andover slayings stun town

Friends say couple was devoted to each other, family

Paul Mercandetti, a longtime friend of the Andover couple found killed Wednesday, recalled them today as an “ideal family’’ that reminded him of TV’s Ozzie and Harriet. “They are the nicest people you are ever going to see,’’ said Mercandetti, who grew up with John Magee in Arlington and was the best man at his wedding to Geraldine Magee. The Magees were found fatally shot Wednesday morning in their spacious home in Andover, and police have said they have no suspects. The Magees’ daughter and her children found the bodies as she dropped them off.
