Pushed out of D.C., Berwick still focused on health care

Caregivers must be advocates, he says

Dr. Don Berwick’s critics have vilified him for comments favoring the United Kingdom’s national health plan and have miscast him as a proponent of health care rationing. To his supporters, however, he is the chief cheerleader of the Affordable Care Act, providing impassioned reminders to those working to implement the complicated law about what they are shooting for: better health care and lower costs. He said in an interview yesterday that the nation needs new cheerleaders to help build buy-in for the law.
