Joel Cohen, Boston Camerata celebrate diverse traditions

Camerata’s ‘Sacred’ work seeks out cultural similarities

Joel Cohen can remember the first time he and the early-music ensemble Boston Camerata performed “The Sacred Bridge.’’ It was in a medieval church in Paris, a city whose Jewish quarter had just been rocked by a terrorist attack. It didn’t feel like the best time to roll out a concert exploring musical links between Christian and Jewish cultures in the Middle Ages. But they did, and “The Sacred Bridge’’ has endured and evolved, in the Camerata’s repertoire. It will be performed tomorrow at Longy School of Music.
