Hunter sets an example for all young dudes

Friday night the Paradise Rock Club was swimming with dudes who were young when Mott the Hoople’s “All the Young Dudes’’ was a hit in 1972. So was the one-time Mott frontman they had come to see, of course; but unlike most of them, Ian Hunter, 72 years and 154 days old when he took the stage Friday, is beginning to qualify as a gerontological marvel. And, as he demonstrated with a close to two hour show-an hour-long set followed by a pair of encores almost equal in length-Hunter remains vital in more than physical ways.
