City Desk (4 positions)

Definition:
|
|
Assist editors and reporters with the daily functions of the City Desk.
|
Key Duties:
|
|
Prepare morning report; research and update happenings overnight
Assist with research and data gathering; take feeds from reporters in the field
Monitor police scanner
Report and write news briefs.
Interact with public: screen news tips; answer queries related to Metro section
Additional tasks as directed by supervisor, reporters, and editors
|
Core competencies:
|
|
Strong journalistic skills (documented with clips); strong verbal skills, interpersonal-team skills, detail oriented, and organized. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask when necessary.
|
Experience/knowledge/
skill/technical expertise required:
|
|
Newspaper or magazine writing experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
