Position Scope/Definition:
|
|
Assist with the daily operation of the bureau office (Responsibilities may vary for each location)
|
Key Duties:
|
|
- Assist with research and data gathering; work with reporting staff on panzonal projects.
- Report and write obituaries of local residents.
- Attend weekly budget meetings
- Maintain the bureau as office manager, including ordering supplies, overseeing equipment, distributing mail, sorting faxes
- Make photo assignments for reporters; work as liaison with Photo Department
- Interact with the public: screen news tips; answer queries related to particular regional section
- Additional tasks as directed by supervisor, reporters or editors

Strong journalistic skills (documented with clips); strong verbal skills; research skills; organized

Experience/knowledge/
skill/technical expertise required:
|
|
Newspaper or magazine writing experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
